La cuestión de la sobredeterminación entre Althusser y Laclau-Mouffe: un debate epistemológico

RESUMEN El presente texto plantea una confrontación entre Althusser y Laclau-Mouffe, a propósito del concepto de sobredeterminación. Se argumenta que este concepto se encuentra en el centro de una disputa planteada en términos eminentemente epistemológicos. Mientras que en Laclau y Mouffe esta noción da cuenta de la constitución discursiva de lo social, entendiendo al discurso como una instancia trascendental en relación con el ser de lo social, para Althusser se trata de un concepto que produce conocimiento positivo de lo social tomado como objeto. Entender la discusión en estos términos permite pensar de otro modo la relación con la categoría de determinación en última instancia.

ABSTRACT The present text poses a confrontation between Althusser and Laclau-Mouffe, with regard to the concept of overdetermination. It is argued that this concept is at the center of a dispute posed in eminently epistemological terms. Whereas in Laclau and Mouffe this notion gives an account of the discursive constitution of the social, understanding discourse as a transcendental instance in relation to the being of the social, for Althusser it is a concept that produces positive knowledge of the social taken as an object. Understanding the discussion in these terms allows us to think differently about the relationship with the category of determination in the last instance.
