Arbitration System

Authors interested in collaborating with Ideas, Journal of Modern and Contemporary Philosophy can submit their manuscripts through our Submissions page. Our journal uses the Open Journal System (OJS) editorial management system designed by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP).

Contributions submitted to the "Articles" and "Reviews" sections undergo a double-blind peer review process. However, texts intended for other sections are evaluated by the editors and only in specific cases referred to external specialists.

The journal accepts texts in Spanish and Portuguese.

By submitting the manuscript, authors declare that the text is original and their own work, and that they have the intellectual property rights to it. Also, that the text has not been previously published elsewhere, nor is it under consideration by any other journal. Finally, that the text complies with the journal's style guidelines for manuscript preparation.

The editorial process consists of the following stages:

1. The proposals received will be evaluated by the Editorial Group, who will examine thematic relevance, originality, quality, and compliance with formal guidelines specified for each section of the journal (articles, reviews, chronicles, margins, and debates).

2. Articles that fit the journal's editorial style will be sent to two external evaluators outside the Editorial Group and specialists in the field according to the double-blind peer review procedure. For this reason, texts should avoid explicit references to the author to maintain anonymity. The arbitration can conclude with the following options:

a) Publication is accepted without modifications

b) Publication is accepted with modifications (substantial or accessory);

c) Publication is rejected.

3. If two favorable opinions are obtained (a), the text will be published, and the author will be informed of both the decision and the expected deadlines for publication.

4. In the event that at least one of the peer reviewers considers it necessary to introduce modifications in the text (b), the original will be sent again to the author so that he/she can make the indicated changes or issue a disclaimer about the pertinence of the evaluation received. To this end, the author will have a period of 15 calendar days from receipt of the opinion. The new version of the manuscript will be sent to the same reviewer who will issue a new opinion.

5. Negative evaluation (c) by both evaluators implies the irrevocable rejection of publication.

6. In case of discrepancies between the opinions, a third evaluator may be called upon. The Editorial Group, on the other hand, retains the right to determine the relevance of calling a new evaluator or to decide directly on the publication of texts subject to discrepancies.

7. Texts approved for publication undergo a stylistic correction process to eliminate typographical errors and other stylistic issues.
