Bergson’s reception in Argentina
Spanish mediation and the readings of the generation of 1910
Keywords:

The article intends to analyze the role of the philosophy of Bergson in the thought of some Argentinean figures. Thus, we investigate his reception considering two key elements. On the one hand, the mediation carried out by Spanish intellectuals –Ortega y Gasset, Eugenio d’Ors and Manuel García Morente– who introduced Bergson’s philosophy in Argentina. On the other hand, the impact of Bergsonism on the “Generation of 1910”, in which the so-called “fathers” of the philosophical discipline were formed: Alejandro Korn and Coriolano Alberini. Likewise, we consider Alberto Rougés’ place, as a leading figure in Argentinean philosophical historiography and the originality of his reading. From our perspective, this generation proposes strategic readings of Bergson that play a role in legitimizing the philosophical discipline in the Argentinean academic field, marked by the intellectual debate against positivism.
