From the very same arise of the German Idealism on the 18th century it is possible to demarcate multiple positions within this
philosophical movement in what concerns to the way in which the thinkers that took part on it developed their thought. Nevertheless, common to all of them it is the importance that they gave to the concepts of “infinity” and “finity”. At the same time, the relation between these terms was thought by them under the sphere of the metaphysical speculation as much as under the sphere of the philosophy of art. In this sense, this article shows the views of Schelling and Novalis in what refers to the mode in which both of them conceived that relation through an aesthetic reflection.
